Pastoral care

Looking after each other is at the heart of the Christian message. Often that happens naturally when one person finds out that their friend needs a bit of extra support. But in a busy parish it’s also good to have a system in place to make sure all the bases are covered. We call this system ‘pastoral care’.

St Timothy’s and St James' manage pastoral care mainly through existing small groups, whose members care for each other practically, in times of illness or emergency. We have a small team of others who assist when groups require extra help, or when there is a need outside a recognised group.

We are able to offer a range of help such as short term cooking or driving, long term visiting of the elderly or unwell, and driving those who need regular transport to services. A team of Lay Ministers assist in meeting the pastoral care needs of the parish.
